Sunday 29 September 2024

The first anniversary of the Opening of the Takura section of Mary2Bay Rail Trail, created by FCBUG, was celebrated in style.

Many families attended and several rode all the way from town.  They were rewarded with coffee and a free sausage sizzle, not to mention various displays and the opportunity to see first-hand the improvements made by FCBUG volunteers. The interim crossing of Blackswamp Creek had just been completed – what a great outcome for FCBUG working with FCRC. The Stockyard Creek one was completed the following week. Almost 17km continuous rural section.

It is notable that our Club was consulted by DTMR reps in the planning stages and separating cyclists and vehicles with separate dedicated lanes is the way to go.

FCBUG 20th anniversary celebrations

Saturday 20 July 2024

What a great turn out!

Nearly 70 people arrived to celebrate this milestone for the Club.  Several  riders joined in, after enjoying a cycling photo shoot at iconic locations around town.

A collection of jerseys was on display, along with a photo display from days gone by. Fine food was provided, the sun shone and chats were lively. It was a great opportunity to catch up with those who no longer cycle.

Ken’s musical tribute to former President Brian Jessett was touching. Did you know  Life Member Lenore organised 12 Australia Day barbecues?  What a champion!

President Natalie acknowledged the original members present, as well as the newest member, Kevin, our Secretary, who co-ordinated the venue.

Thanks to everyone for marking the occasion – 20 years is quite an achievement.
